The Jebal Saghro, is a remote area located in between the High Atlas Mounrains and Sahara Desert area. Saghro mountain 2712 metres, is home for local Berber nomads of Ait Atta Tribes. Saghro massif is volcanic mountain range which forms actually eastern part of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The special time for hiking in Saghro Mountain is from September to May. 7 Day hike In Saghro Mountain
Day 1 : transport from the airport to your hotel in Marrakech:
any time you arrive Marrakech airport day or night, early morning.. whenever you get there you will find the driver waiting for you to pick you up to the hotel in downtown. Rest of the is free to explore Marrakech city. Overnight in hôtel gomassine. Meals: breakfast.
Day 2 : Marrakech- Tichka Pass – Ouarzazate-Tagoudilt Village 1600m.
Pick up from Marrakech to the Anti Atlas Mountains. Your journey today is very scenic, you will cross the High Atlas Mountain with its beautiful valleys and dramatic sceneries. After you pass through the highest vehicular pass in Morocco (Tichka pass 2260m), you will be welcomed by arid hills and dry plains of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou an exceptional fortified site of adobe architecture marked as world heritage by UNESCO since 1987, here many films were made such as “Gladiator” “Lawrence d’Arabie”, “Alexander’’. Early afternoon, you continue your drive towards the valley of one thousand Kasbah which was a former caravan route. Late afternoon, you will arrive at the village of Tagoudilt (1650m), where you will spend your night in a family guesthouse. Total drive approx 08hours. Meals: B/L/D
Day 3 : Tagoudilt (1600m) – Almou Nouarg(2200 m).
You start your first day hiking in Jbel Saghro with climbing an old trail passing by several centenary junipers and some areas of grassland to reach the plateau of Iskn’Alla (2500m), walking uphill to a little mountains pass will allow you to enjoy a great panoramic view over the Mount Mgoun. After your picnic break in the pass, you continue your hike crossing pasture land with some rock huts where you might meet shepherds chanting with their heard. Then, you walk downhill to your camp by the seasonal river of Almou N Ouareg. Overnight in tents. 6 hours hike. Meals: B/L/D
Day 4: Almou Nouarg (2200m) – Kouaouck Summit (2600m) – Igli (1850m).
Today, you will be amazed by the spectacular view of Jebel Saghro from the highest peak in the Anti Atlas Mountains, the Kouaouch summit (2600m) or the landmark as the nomads love to call it, the rock formations are fascinating: sheer cliffs, rock towers, and very compact volcanic tables rising above the valley, the view and the geology from the peak are stunning.On your way downhill to reach your second camp in the village of Igli, you descend between two imposing rock tables and will find several surprising rocks containing crystals in their interior and you pass by the great table Tassegdilt Tamajgalt where you will see the famous camel head. Camp by the tilled fields surrounded by almond orchards. 07.5 hours hike.

Day 5: Igli (1850m) – Bab N’Ali(1360m).
Ascend along a high ridge, with panoramic views over the surrounding peaks. Your trail takes you to a verdant valley and the Berber village Boulouze. You will hike along the river bed and you may stop to share a cup of tea with a nomadic family. At lunchtime, your chef will serve you a delicious picnic at a shady spot in the valley. In the afternoon, you walk to your third camp at the foot of the famous pinnacles of Bab n’Ali. 06 hours hike.

Day 6 : Bab N’Ali(1360m)- Assif Nirrazzoun (1200m) – Handour Village.
Take a detour to the landmark of jebel Saghro Bab N Ali or the gate of Ali, your guide will tell you the stories of naming these two rock towers. From Bab n’ Ali you descent towards the small valley of Amguis, at the foot of the rocky peaks, until the village of Ighazoun Nimlas.Cross the plateau, with sumptuous rocky formations, to reach the valley of Igue, with its many villages surrounded by date palms and almond trees. Red soil from the houses, green fields, and the purity of the sky of the South. At the exit of this valley, an immense plateau discovers an opening towards the South. End of the journey to Handour village perched in a cliff. Approx 06 hours trek.Meals: B/L/D
Day 7: Handour Village to Marrakech.
This morning you say goodbye to your chef and mule leaders and thank them for their great job, then, you leave the village of Handour and drive along the palm groves of Draa valley towards Ouarzazate. In the afternoon, you cross the High Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech. Drop off at your hotel. Free evening to enjoy the nightlife of Marrakech. Approx. 7hours drive.Meals: B/L/D
